Diabetic Eye Management
The C.D.C. estimates approximately 11% of the U.S. population has diabetes, with a considerable amount (21% of those individuals) remaining undiagnosed. The eye is one of the few areas of the body that affords examination of vascular health through dilated eye examination. Our highly trained Doctors are often some of the first health care providers to assess early signs of Diabetes, Hypertension, Atherosclerotic Disease as well as various other undiagnosed health conditions. Comprehensive eye exams are recommended for anyone diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus as soon as possible after diagnosis. Follow up examination is determined based on any signs of diabetic retinopathy, duration of disease, control of diabetes as well as visual complications. Our Doctors work closely with Primary Care Physicians, Endocrinologists as well as Ophthalmologists specializing in the Retina to maintain ocular health and overall wellbeing of our patients.
