Dr. Tamara Old

Dr. Tamara Old completed her optometry school education in Boston at the New England College of Optometry. She continued her studies with a year of residency training in ocular disease and has worked in medical/surgical environments for many of her years in practice. She has a vast amount of experience in refractive surgery, having participated in many LASIK/PRK/LASEK and clear lens extraction surgical cases. She is certified to treat glaucoma in Nevada and enjoys challenging contact lens fittings. Dr. Old is a mother of three and enjoys seeing patients of all ages. She is the past president of the Northern Nevada Optometry Society and is board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease.

Dr. Leslie DeMers

Dr. Leslie DeMers enjoys seeing patients of all ages, but specializes in pediatric eye care. In addition, she fits a wide variety of contact lenses, from disposable lenses for regular corneas to specialty contact lenses for those with corneal irregularities, including keratoconus and post-surgical complications. Dr. Leslie provides high-level care for patients with chronic dry eye syndrome. She earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of North Dakota, achieving Summa Cum Laude status. Next, she was accepted into the Southern California College of Optometry, where she graduated with honors and was also a member of the Optometric Honor Society.

Dr. Scott DeMers

Dr. Scott DeMers provides care for patients of all ages, but specializes in glaucoma and geriatric care. He is one of the few optometrists in the area certified in diagnosing and treating glaucoma. Dr. Scott also evaluates diabetic patients for retinopathy, providing clear communication with the diabetic patient's primary care physician for best diabetic management. He is the grandson of Dr. Albert DeMers, the practice's founder. Dr. Scott was born in Reno and raised in Arizona. He received his bachelor’s degree in physiology from the University of Arizona. He graduated from the Southern California College of Optomery.  Outside the office, he is an avid golfer, enjoys spending time with his wife Dr. Leslie, and their two daughters.

Dr. Manpreet Rehal

Dr. Manpreet Rehal worked at Eye Zone in South Reno for the last 6 years. She would be honored to continue to see her patients at DeMers Family Vision Group. Prior to moving to Reno, she worked in an ophthalmology office and other medical practices in California’s Central Valley area. She completed internships in Lexington, San Diego, Detroit, and Chicago, where she specialized in ocular disease and contact lenses. Dr. Rehal attended California State University, Stanislaus, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in biological science and earned her doctor of optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry.
 
Dr. Rehal is deeply committed to addressing patients' visual needs, specializing in contact lenses and ocular disease. She aims to deliver an outstanding patient care experience through her dedication and expertise. She resides in Sparks, NV, with her husband and sons. They love spending quality time outdoors, exploring parks and engaging in interactive activities that foster their children's curiosity and imagination.

Dr. Mackenzie Macintyre III

Dr. Macintyre received his bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Olaf College in Minnesota, and his Doctor of Optometry degree with distinction from Pacific College of Optometry in 2014. During optometry school, he was chosen by his colleagues to be the recipient of the Brian Hill Memorial Award for ‘friendship and leadership’. He completed his residency at the Portland Veteran Affairs Healthcare System in ocular disease.

Dr. Macintyre has always been passionate about ocular disease management, helping his patients understand their vision problems and coordinating their care between primary care and advanced medical services. He is board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and in the medical treatment of glaucoma.

Dr. Macintyre is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He, his wife, and his daughters are passionate about the outdoors, including snowboarding, hiking, and backpacking.

Dr. Albert DeMers Obituary

Dr. Albert DeMers was the founder of DeMers Sparks Optical which later became DeMers Family Vision Group, Inc. Dr. Albert was passionate about Optometry and loved each of his patients.
He passed away unexpectedly in October 2008.
